Mission Critical backup power for the Fidelis Cross Point Data Center in Amherst, NY

Fidelis Care, a nonprofit health insurer, completed a 90,000-square-foot expansion at its CrossPoint Parkway facility, officially opening the new 21,000-square-foot data center on June 1, 2015.

The data center takes up nearly the entire first floor, housing 1,200 servers, redundant power systems with battery back-up and three generators that protect the company’s systems across New York. The system enables 24-7 claims processing regardless of weather or power interruptions anywhere in the state. More than 1.5 million claims are processed through the facility each month.

Incorporated in 1993 as the NYS Catholic Health Plan Inc., Fidelis Care also operates facilities in Queens and in Albany.

Curtis Engine supplied three MTU 12V4000 DS1750 (1,600 kW Data Center Continuous rated) diesel generator sets in custom enclosures with 10,000 gallon belly tanks, load bank connection boxes, and accessories for the Fidelis Care data center expansion project in New York to Whiting-Turner from Baltimore, MD, who designed and built the expanded facility.
